BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - Three area residents were arrested on drug charges Monday after local authorities conducted a search of two rooms at the Microtel Suites & Inns in Bartlesville. Two of the residents arrested face weapons charges as well.
All three appeared for arraignment Wednesday in Washington County District Court.
Jose Manuel Roman Cuevas, 28, of Independence, Kans., faces charges of possession of amphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm while in commission of a felony, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $100,000 during the hearing.
Kimberly Ann Quarles, 29, of Wann faces the same charges as Roman, but has her bail set at $50,000.
Cassandra Twila Lorrain Beard, 20, of Coffeyville, Kans., faces charges of possession of synthetic narcotics and possession of paraphernalia. Her bond is set at $2,500.
According to the probable cause affidavits connected to the case, officials with the 11th Judicial Task force executing a search warrant at the Microtel Suites on the 2600 block of S.E. Washington Blvd. searched two rooms, one which belonged to Cuevas and Quarles and the other, to Beard.
Officials in the first room found among other items a pink pouch containing approximately 3 grams of marijuana, 1.8 grams of methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe bearing residue. In addition, they discovered a digital scale, another pipe with residue, a .22 caliber six-shot revolver, handwritten notes bearing names, drug references and dollar amounts and, in wallet belonging to Cuevas and a brown case, more than $2,700 in cash, said the report.
Quarles reportedly during the search told the officials the pink pouch belonged to her.
In the second room — one belonging to Beard — officials found a set of digital scales and a bottle containing five pills which she reportedly admitted were not hers and were without a prescription. She admitted to having had received a quantity of methamphetamine from Quarles two days earlier to sell and that Quarles had given her the scales to use for selling the methamphetamine, said the affidavit.
Cuevas and Quarles are due back in court on August 13. Beard is due back on on August 30.
