A Bartlesville man stands accused of drug and weapons violations.
Michael Brandon Liddell, 25, faces charges of possession of amphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of firearm while in commission of a felony and possession of paraphernalia. In arraignments held Thursday at the Washington County Courthouse, the judge set his bond at $25,000.
According to the affidavit, on Thursday at around 3:18 a.m. an officer with the Bartlesville Police Department on routine patrol in the area of Ohio and Avondale Streets noticed a vehicle bearing three occupants parked near the 100 block of Avondale.
The truck, according to the report, was parked on the wrong side of the road and had its brake lights on. The officer said in his report that as there had been many auto buglaries in the area, he found this scene to be suspicious.
The report said the officer recognized all the occupants, including Liddell in the back seat, from previous dealings. The officer approached the vehicle and asked the occupants what they were doing. They said they had dropped off a friend and were waiting for another friend to come out.
Learning the driver had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, the officer asked dispatch to send a K9 unit to his location and placed the driver under arrest. The unit later arriving, police ran the drug dog around the vehicle and noticed the dog alert on the back seat of the vehicle where Liddell sat, the report said.
According to the affidavit, police searching the occupants of the vehicle and finding nothing then searched the vehicle. Directly under where Liddell was seated, police found a .40 caliber automatic pistol containing a magazine loaded with 12 bullets. Also in the back seat were found six plastic baggies containing white powder, an orange pill bottle containing two plastic baggies with white powder and one pill. Found around the driver's seat area was a black leather bag containing eight lighters, Q-tips and two blue plastic containers containing seven tablets and five capsules and a small plastic baggie containing a white powder.
The report said police, upon returning to the police department, sorted through the evidence and found the white powder substance tested positive for methamphetamine and determined its quantity and the way it was packaged indicated an intent to distribute.
The affidavit indicated Liddell is already on a five-year deferred sentence "on a similar case" and hence, his charge of possession of a firearm.
Liddell's next court date is set for Dec. 4.
